Questions & answers
What guests ask us before they travel
Who is the Poppengut the right hotel for?
For everyone who is looking for mountains and quiet: walkers and food lovers, couples, groups of friends, families with children and guests who ski or go snowshoeing in winter. Anyone looking for a crowd is in the wrong valley – anyone looking for views, good food and a warm pool is in the right place.
What does a night at the Poppengut cost?
From € 108 per person per night in the simple double room, including gourmet half board (breakfast buffet, afternoon snack, five courses in the evening) and all standard services. The local tax of € 3 per person per night is added. You will find the rates for each room type on the Rooms & rates page.
To the room ratesWhat is included in the price?
The price includes the gourmet half board – breakfast buffet, an afternoon snack with home-made cakes, five courses with a choice in the evening – as well as the bathing pavilion, the sauna world, the bathrobe and bathing basket, the guided walks, the free hire and, in summer, the Pyhrn-Priel AktivCard. Everything that is included is listed under “What’s included”.
All prices are in euros and per person, plus local tax of € 3 per person per night. Reduction for a room with breakfast only: € 10.00 off the daily rate; not possible with packages. Services that are not used are not refunded. Single occupancy surcharge as per the rate table – the Wohlfühlsuite de luxe and the Landhauszimmer of approx. 45 m² with children's room cannot be booked for single occupancy.
Everything that is includedCan I ask for a particular room number?
Gladly. If you give us a particular room number along with the room type you would like, we will do our best to accommodate your request. We cannot, however, give a firm, binding promise.
Where is smoking allowed?
The restaurant, the rooms, the hotel bar and the lobby are non-smoking areas – smoking is no longer officially permitted anywhere in our hotel. For guests who smoke there is a small heated smoking corner by the exit to the garden, near the hotel bar.
May my dog come along?
Yes, on request. Price per night: € 15.00, food not included. We ask you to understand that dogs are not allowed in our restaurant or in the spa area. At the Styrian evening at the Gasthof Jaidhaus they may come into the restaurant with you. We reserve the right to charge for any final cleaning that becomes necessary.
Is the spa area included?
Yes. The bathing pavilion with its indoor and outdoor pool and the sauna area with cabin sauna, steam bath and aroma bath are open to all house guests at no extra charge. Only treatments such as massages, baths and beauty treatments cost extra, and so does the solarium. The prices of the treatments are on the wellness page.
To the treatments and pricesHow far is it to the ski slope, the station and the cross-country trail?
The Hössbahn is two minutes away on the free ski bus that stops in front of the hotel – ten minutes on foot. The 25-kilometre valley trail starts at the edge of the village, a few minutes' walk from the hotel.

Yes, on three to five days a week – they are part of the services included. Our own hiking bus takes you to the starting point. You can sign up at reception until 17:00 the day before. In summer the Pyhrn-Priel AktivCard with all the mountain lifts is included as well.

So that we can take your wishes into account as well as possible and prepare the dishes accordingly, please tell us about special diets or intolerances when you book. For the extra work of individual planning and preparation we charge € 10 per person per night. This applies, for example, to vegan, gluten-free or lactose-free diets and to other diets that require separate preparation. Cancelling a room
If something comes up
Our general terms and conditions apply to every booking. It is a pity when booked rooms stay empty although other guests would gladly have come – but something can come up for anyone. Please tell us in good time. We try to be lenient, as long as we can fill the room again. Otherwise this scale applies.
If you leave earlier than planned, we only charge for what we can no longer let to someone else. The full conditions are set out in our general terms and conditions. View the terms and conditions
